Frequently Asked Questions
Is lunch included in the camp?
Yes! A pizza lunch is included in the sailing camp, along with chips, watermelon slices, carrots and hummus and cookies. Please bring a water bottle.
What if my child has a food allergy?
Please let us know if your child has a food allergy and we will try our best to accommodate. We will offer a gluten-free pizza option, but please notify us in advance so we can plan accordingly.
What if my child does not know how to swim?
All sailing camp participants are required to wear a life vest at all times when they are on the docks, motor craft and sail boats. So, whether or not they know how to swim is not an issue.
What should my child wear?
All sailing camp participants are encouraged to wear a swimming suit under shorts and t-shirts. Often on hot days, campers will have an option to go swimming with their life vests on.
Campers are also encouraged to wear last up sneakers, or water shoes. Please avoid flip flops as they tend to fall off easy and not have much support.
Campers should come with sun screen already applied, hats, towels and a wind breaker on colder days.
What if my child has never sailed before?
No experience is necessary! Each boat will have a certified sailing instructor who will do most of the sailing, but also teach those students who would like to learn to sail on their own.
What time do we pick-up and drop-off?
Participants are encouraged to arrive between 9:45am - 10:00 am. When they arrive, they will be lead to an area to pick up their life vest and then wait at the Minneapolis Sailing School patio until the other participants arrive. We will start promptly at 10:00 am.
PIck-up is between 2:45pm - 3:00pm at the same area that the participants were dropped off.
